Currency Recognition

Overview

American paper currency is not accessible for people who are visually impaired, since all of the denominations are indistinguishable through tactile feedback alone. In this project we use the SIFT descriptor for bill recognition, obtaining good results robust to blur from hand-held devices and other variations. We chose the iPhone platform for implementation given its accesibility and popularity. We developed and optimized an iPhone App. Click here to see it working.
